500 Million Elephants by David Betteridge

This video weaves a very important message into a visually artistic piece of work. The ticking of the clock reminds me how little time we have a to make big changes. We can't stop time, but we can make our time here better for ourselves and others.
David Betteridge

I was given an open brief to make a film for an environmental conference. A low budget and fast turnaround lead to this idea - using the metaphor of time running out as a backdrop for the message.

The 500 million elephants of the title refers to the weight of waste the world creates every year. Scary statistic.

Moments by Everyone

This video is definitely worth a moment of your time. It took me a long time, but I finally learned how to stop and appreciate the small precious moments that happen each and every day. This video took me on an emotional ride that actually made me weep. I have watched over and over many times. Life is beautiful even amongst all the chaos.

A Short Love Story (in stop motion) by Carlos Lascano

I'm not the biggest fan of animation or stop motion, but I do appreciate the time, the effort, the patience, the vision, and the artistry that goes in to making one of them. The story is not new, but the way it's told is very fresh and sweet. This story reminds me a lot of the beginning or the Pixar movie UP. The song Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros is a truly magnificent song. My favorite parts of the film is the lighting, the dust falling in the scene with the baby in the stroller, and the last stick figure drawing. I'm a sucker for love stories and this one me likes very much.

A couple of pencil-outlined birds escape from a little girl´s drawing, leading us through the life she dreams of.

How I Meet Your Father by Alex Montoya

This is a wonderful, honest, funny and sweet film. The acting, story, and flow is very natural, believable, and relatable. My favorite scene is when she is on the balcony watching him walk away talking to himself. Wonderful location. I love titles and the ones at the end were fantastic. Well done!

Your Lucky Day by Dan Brown

I really like this story, the way this movie was shot and edited, and the music. It kept me guessing and trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I felt some of the dialogue could have been better, but that's just me. And if you are a fan of Boy Meets World you might enjoy seeing Shawn (Rider Strong). Mr. Fenny won't be too happy though. Anyways another great short.

Hayaku: A Time Lapse Journey Through Japan by Brad Kremer

If you have any interest in Japan, time lapse, and beautiful sights then this is a must see. I wish I had the time, patience, and smarts to make something like this.

I Love Sarah Jane by Spencer Susser

My interest in Zombie movies was reignited by AMC's The Walking Dead series. So, I was very please when I ran across this short. The acting and zombie effects are very well done which isn't always the case even on big budget projects. When I watched this movie I had no idea that the young girl who plays Sarah Jane (Mia Wasikowska) has gone on to do great things, but I knew she had that something.

Insipiens by Philip Bloom

I really enjoy the work of Philip Bloom. He loves what he does and it shows in all of his work. My motto is to live, learn, and share and Mr. Bloom does just that and more. His website is a massive resource for any one interested in filmmaking.

I like this short because of the location, no dialogue, shot selection, and the unconventional ending which I always enjoy.

I spent 17 years working in news and have seen countless horrors and covered hideous stories. This film sums up just what horrors there are out there for me very simply.

Most of my work is gentle. I wanted to make a little piece which was totally different to my other work, never shot or directed a scene like the one near the end.

This film's concept is very simple. Utter beauty shattered by a moment of senseless ugliness. Something that happens in the world countless times every day.

Focus by Ari Kruger

I have a similar concept for short like this one myself, but a wee bit different. Focus is really well done from top to bottom. The story, shots, actors, voice over, and the music work beautifully together. Easy to watch over and over.

La Tangente by Vincent Vesco

The story, acting, cinematography, are all very well done. This movie has some of the best scenery I've seen in a short film.

A young man washing his car offers an attractive woman a ride wherever she wants to go. The two set off on a journey with no plans and no direction, but as their relationship grows can they continue living their life of the rock-and-roll aesthetic or will they have to compromise and settle down?
